Thankgiving!
I am excited for Thanksgiving this year. My husband and I usually throw the holiday dinners. Ever since we have been out here we have had huge gatherings for every holiday occasion. We have many married friends, but also many single airmen. I have 18 and counting coming for dinner this Thanksgiving. I am deep frying one turkey, oven cooking another, and ordered a honey baked ham from the store ready to eat; just have to heat it up. I am usually overwhelmed and ask a couple of girlfriends to come over early to assist in the set up. We have fun drinking wine or martinis while the sirus xmas station is going and we are busy prepping for the feast. The guys usually watch football in the next room and drink their beers while devouring shrimp cocktail and pigs in a blanket. I try to put all the food on the table and allow for everyone to sit down there, but this year I am not being fussy. I will go buy some tv dinner trays and let everyone shuffle to a spot. As long as we say grace and get to break bread together; I will be happy. Last year I said "forget cooking" and went to the store and bought a ton of rotisserie chickens; one for each couple or person, depending. It was fun! Everyone had a chicken and got to bring it home. Easy clean up. But this year we do not have that kind of money, especially with the big move coming up. I will wake up, start my coffee pot, turn on the news, get the turkey going, then turn on the Patriots game that starts at 9:30 am. I am glad they will be playing that day. If you have not ever had a deep fryed turkey you are missing out. It is the best tasting turkey I have ever had. MMMM. I hope everyones Thanksgiving is wonderful and relaxing and filled with loving family and friends. I will be so sad to leave behind the traditions that my family has made with friends out here. On the other hand, I will be able to return back to old traditions with our families and that will be much enjoyed. I am bound to get super emotional and cry during prayer; I always do, but this year it means alittle more because I am leaving the place that I called homw for so long and the freinds that I made my family. Oh, no my eyes are watering right now. Ok, enough already. Have a lovely turkey day and god bless!

Thanksgiving is a special holiday to spend with you family. I also excited because I just move into my new house and my family coming from Bradenton FL to spend that day with me. There is so much to do and say and we know it is not all going to get done. I just can’t wait to wake up to my grandmother cooking on more year. Life is short and you never know when it’s going to be your last. I just also buried a aunt that I will not see anymore but I know I will miss her famous red valet cake. ReplyDeleteAww, I am so happy for you. Congrats on the new home. That must be a wonderful feeling! Having your family around will make Thanksgiving that miuch more magical. My condolences in regards to the passing of your aunt. I recently lost my nana. It is hard to have to say goodbye to a piece of tradition, such as her red velvet cake. I must admit, my nana was a horrible cook and she knew it! We teased her often. I will miss her happy attitude. I wish you and your family all the blessings! It has been great having you in class.
